Brad CookManuscript Society President, Allen Ottens, introduces the new David Chesnutt Editor for Manuscripts to the membership.

“Let me introduce Bradley D. Cook as the next David R. Chesnutt Editor of Manuscripts. After having been chosen from a nation-wide pool of applicants.  Brad will soon take over the editorial duties from Michael Dabrishus who has served as editor for four years.

“We know Brad as the editor of the Auction Trends feature of our journal. He has performed this job with great writing skills, energy, enthusiasm, and attention to detail–qualities that will hold him in good stead as our new editor. Brad is currently employed as the Curator of Photographs in the Indiana University Archives where he has worked for over twenty-five years. Brad is also a member of the Society of American Archivists and has just authored a major pictorial history book of Indiana University for its bicentennial. That book will be published by Indiana University Press and is scheduled for release in fall of 2019.

“I want to thank Society members Ellen Howell Myers, Russell Simbari, and Bill Butts for their service on the search committee.  A sincere thank-you goes out to Mike Dabrishus for his successful tenure at the helm of Manuscripts.”

The next issue of The Manuscript Society News will have more on the new editor. Brad will share his thoughts as he takes on this new challenge in the Fall issue of Manuscripts, due out in November.
