Hundreds of pages of documents were unsealed in the Allegheny County Common Pleas Court, Thursday, June 28th, highlighting the magnitude of the theft of documents and books from the Carnegie Library.

Documents released state, Gregory Priore, former archivist of the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh and John Schulman, co-owner of Caliban Book Shop are under investigation for theft, receiving stolen property and criminal mischief. Documents released include search warrants, inventories from completed searches and affidavits laying out probable cause.  No charges have been filed in the case.

Inventories reveal a total of nearly 320 items were removed from the Oliver Room at the library’s main branch in Oakland. The items are valued at more than $8 million. The thefts occurred over a 20 year period.
