This of personal research interest. The papers of Thomas Hughes, author of Tom Brown’s Schooldays among many other works, were with his descendants in Topeka, KS as late as the 1950s. A search of archives databases from around world turned up nothing, suggesting they are still in family or other private hands.

My interest is in the life and career of Thomas Hughes’ son George (1865-1939). Hughes was an ardent proponent of Progressive causes in early 20th century Kansas.

If it’s permissible to ask in the forum, I’d appreciate any ideas the group might have for locating the Hughes papers.
